Barnaby was introduced as an open edition in advance of our nation's 200th birthday/bicentennial celebration. "200th" was embossed on the bear's horn in Old Coin Gold accents. For the year 1976 only, a special Barnaby in white was also available. Measuring 7" tall, no design or color variations are known to exist. Barnaby was retired in 1977.

Offered as an open edition, Bobo the Musical Bear measures 4 3/4" tall. Initially offered as part of the Circus collection, by 1988 he was moved to the Animal Kingdom collection and eventually to an animal sub-group known as Musical Menagerie. This "set" consisted of five pieces with "set" pricing of $1,275.

Introduced as an open edition Dandy measures 8" tall and was available through 1979. Dandy is a sculpture that must be handled properly to avoid damage. Mishandling this piece will result in his cane becoming detached. Many are offered on the secondary market with the cane broken and in some cases, missing. The pom-poms on his hat are also easily damaged.

Introduced as open editions, Pierre was design number 6051 and Je T'aime was number 6071. He measures 4 1/2" tall while she is slightly smaller at 3 3/4" in height.

Also offered as an open edition was Big Top. With a height of 4 3/4" tall this cute little guy had eyes that could melt any heart. Big Top was retired in 1984. While a durable piece overall, he is often found with the flower on his hat damaged.

Phineas was named in honor of Phineas T. Barnum, considered the world’s greatest showman. Measuring 7 1/2" tall Phineas is another circus sculpture often found on the secondary market with damage. The riser/step below his foot is frequently broken off and offered detached. Setting this piece down hard will result in separation where the two pieces are joined. Phineas, another open edition was available through 1999.

Alexander was an open edition measuring 7 1/2" tall. No known design variations exist, but the studio did release one color variation. A pink version was available for a short time in which the tapestry on his back was revised to a pink background and his ball was painted blue instead of red. This color variation was either offered as a special edition available for purchase to those attending dealer events or perhaps offered during the bicentennial of 1976 as was done with the white Barnaby bear.

Measuring 5 1/4" tall, Willoughby was released as an open edition to the Circus collection. Created by artist Susan Eaton, Willoughby was the first of four baby animals the studio purchased from Eaton and released as Cybis introductions. Just why Willoughby was introduced as a circus elephant isn't clear, as the other three baby animals were all released as part of the Animal Kingdom and Woodlands collection. Willoughby was never moved from Circus to the Animal Kingdom to join the others.

Created by the same artist, Willoughby was the first of four baby animals Cybis released.
Poppy was the first limited edition Circus sculpture released by the studio. A numbered edition restricted to 1,000 Poppy sold out in just three years and was completed in 1979. No design or color variations have been found. Poppy measures 6" tall and 9" long.

Introduced as a limited edition restricted to 500 copies, the Circus Rider was complex and expensive. Production and shipping difficulties along with minimal dealer orders resulted in the edition being reduced to 250 within a year and finally to 150 with the status shown as "Complete" by the Fall of 1981. Early marketing photos show her costume with large flowers on her shoulders. These were replaced with lace either prior to production or soon after her release.

Created in the 1970's as a Circus introduction, Show Time was shelved for a future release. That finally came in 1991 as a limited edition of 2,000 copies. Show Time measures 9 3/4" tall by 9 3/4" wide.

Monkey Bosun was one of three open edition porcelain circus animals released in 1975. Dressed in a sailor costume, Bosun was an immediate hit with collectors who liked the Circus collection. No design or color variations have been noted.

One would usually expect to find a "Blue Ribbon Pig" at the state fair. Obviously Cybis did no have a "State Fair" category but they did have Percy! Therefore he was assigned to the Circus category. Percy was an open edition. No design or color variations have been noted.
